Jussie Smollett showed up at Cook County court even though he didn’t have to attend. Reportedly Jussie wants to be an active part in his defense, and looked confident as he walked into the courthouse with his family and legal defense team.
Since the news of the indictment broke Jussie has been laying low, and instead of walking to Subway or Walgreens at 2am in Chicago in -26 degrees (where ever he said he went he said both on different occasions) he’s probably has been Uber Eating it up!
The hearing was intended for his attorney, Mark Geragos, to file the necessary paperwork, so he can represent Jussie Smollett in Illinois. They also wanted to determine if cameras will be allowed in court for the case. His lawyer released a statement about the unexpected indictment:
“The fact of an indictment was not unexpected. We knew that there is no way they would expose their evidence to a public airing and subject their witnesses to cross-examination. What is unexpected, however, is the prosecutorial overkill in charging 16 separate counts against Jussie.”
