Sandra Bland‘s death was felt throughout the African American community when she mysteriously died while in police custody. Until now the public was only aware of the arresting officer Brian Encinia‘s dash cam that showed the events leading up to Sandra’s death.
In the video the arresting officer seems overly aggressive for a turn signal stop, and tells her to stop recording. Sandra tells him it is her right to do so, but she obliges with his demands. He even pointed a stun gun at Sandra for what you can see no reason. Despite the officer’s claims that he was worried for his safety when you can clearly see ha wasn’t! Sandra had a cell phone in her hand, and posed no risk. She was by herself, and usually officers who feel at risk call for back up before taking suspects into custody during traffic stops.
Ms. Bland, a 28-year-old African-American woman from Chicago, was taken into custody in southeast Texas following the ultimately tragic 2015 traffic stop. Sandra “found” hanging in a jail cell three days later in what was officially ruled a suicide.
Sandra’s family had never seen the footage and are now calling for her case to be re-examined on this basis. The Bland family’s lawyer Cannon Lambert, was even shocked himself when he saw the footage for the first time! Sandra Bland’s family wants the case re -examined after the new findings.
“Open up the case, period,” said Bland’s sister Shante Needham said when shown the video. We also know they have an extremely, extremely good cover-up system,”
It’s unclear of why the police released the footage 4 year later, and we Sandra Bland gets justice! Rapped Out
